About Covoda: The Facts

Covoda was founded in 2001 by former corporate telecommunications executive Mark J. Thomas and began operations in 2003. Covoda’s immediate goal was to provide an all-encompassing communications package to small businesses in the Tri-State area. Over the course of Covoda’s inaugural year the IP Exchange Service was developed and implemented into the communications market. In 2008 Covoda introduced it's IP Office Solution targeted at small and midsize businesses.

About Covoda: Meet The People

Mark J. Thomas - Chairman/CEO
Mark holds an MBA from the University of New Haven and has over 20 years of experience in telecommunications. Prior to founding Covoda, Mark was the President and a co-founding member of Alliance Group Services Inc., a wholesale telecommunications provider that grew to revenues of over $30M. For the five years previous to Alliance Group, Mr. Thomas developed and implemented wholesale services for SNET Diversified Group, In this capacity he introduced and grew deregulated wholesale network services including 1) Prime Axxess, providing regional tandem switching services; 2) Message Signaling Service, an SS7 gateway service allowing Tier II and Tier III long distance carriers access to the SS7 signaling networks and 3) Other SS7 based services including LIDB Gateway Database Service, Calling Name Gateway Database Service, Toll Free Database Service and LIDB Gateway Validation Services. These services grew to over 100 new Long Distance Carriers, CLECs and Local Exchange Company customers.

For the five years after divestiture Mr. Thomas was Product Manager and Network Technical Consultant, supporting carrier equal access implementation and major carrier network migrations in switched and special access services. In this role he worked with new facility based long distance carriers in implementing equal access networks. He developed the Access Services Information System for CABS billing information and represented SNET at the Industry Carriers Compatibility Forum and Bellcore's Carrier Interconnection Technical Liaison - Advisory Group.
